Theories of Leadership
Organizational theory is an important consideration when examining the strategy of an organization. Classical organization theories include scientific management, administrative theory, and Weber’s Bureaucratic theory. However, modern viewpoints include the stakeholder viewpoint, learning organization, systems viewpoint, and adaptive theory, among others. When involved in the process of organizational strategy, it is important to understand the underlying organizational theories the strategy aligns with. Understanding the underlying theories will improve strategic alignment for more desirable outcomes.
Review the sector analysis and leadership analysis you have already conducted, and then examine the organizational theories that are most commonly used within the sector in which your organization operates.
Write a paper to address the following:
· Explain if your organization’s sector generally relies on classical theories or current organizational theories.
· Determine if the organizational theory aligns with the overall sector in terms of which organizational theory is implemented.
· Explain whether the current organizational theory being applied within the organization is successful. If not, recommend which theory may be more effective for the organization and explain why.
· Finally, determine if the implemented theory affects the overall strategy of the organization.
Support your assignment with at least five scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.
Length: 5-7 pages, not including title and reference pages
Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.
