For our current event this week, we’re going to take a look at a current event where you are the center of attention. Yes, that’s right! State politicians are fighting over you! A recent change in Texas law now requires all early voting sites to be open for all twelve days of the early-voting period. This has mainly had an impact on mobile polling places, as well as polling places at nursing homes and college campuses, since these sites would often only have polls available for a short time as needed. Some are concerned that this may have a negative impact on voter turnout rates among college students, as some polling locations will not be available anymore, while others feel it makes elections simpler by having the same locations available throughout an entire election period: (Links to an external site.)

Do you think this new law might have an effect on voter turnout in Texas? Why or why not?
